Westford has a lot of wooded house lots, stone-walled country roads, and large shade trees that need attention as they age. Whether it's a single dead pine or a backyard full of stumps, request a quote and a local crew will follow up.
Westford's scenic roads
Westford has designated several roads as scenic roads under the Massachusetts Scenic Roads Act. The town lists Hildreth Street, Old Lowell Road, Vose Road, Old Road, Gould Road, Leland Road, Stony Brook Road, Chamberlain Road, Hunt Road, and Frances Hill Road. Along a scenic road, cutting or removing trees in the public way, or disturbing stone walls, as part of road work requires planning board consent after a public hearing. Check the town's current list before planning work near the road edge.
Public shade tree permits
Westford's Tree Warden oversees public shade trees, and the town publishes a public shade tree permit request form. If a tree you want removed is near the street and you're not sure it's on your land, start there. Trees clearly on your own property, away from the road, are typically a private matter.
